Map of Evansville and Lamasco City 1856

This 1856 street map of Evansville and Lamasco is the oldest map we've found specifically of the area (not including state views). Its index includes nearly 30 of the the oldest historical structures when the town was just starting to grow.

The map highlights the city's additions and enlargements which are color coded. A few sketches are included as well, including a detailed drawing of the riverfront ("Drawn from nature by A G Aldersberg").

An in-depth article about this map appeared in the 2/1/1920 Evansville Journal, though it appears to have misdated the map as 1854.
