History

founded c1830 used to meet in mcgarys warehouse independence methodist first church founded in 1859 on pennsylvania st ME (bore name of street), brick building complete feb 1861 dedicated new building with help of Locust Street ME, now Trinity Methodist.

It was part of independence circuit with center ridge (kratzville) and victory me (union) 1871 c1874 Independence Church Methodist Episcopal Church of Independence possibly renamed when streets renamed c1874. 4th St (lamasco) becomes Pennsylvania St

1882 bought lots 1884 built and named simpson chapel in honor of Bishop Simpson first bishop from Indiana moved to new building dedicated april 1884 illinois and 11th
