History

Simpson Methodist Episcopal originated from the Pennsylvania St ME Church. That church was renamed Simpson ME Chapel in honor of Bishop Simpson, first bishop from Indiana, when it moved to right across the street in 1884.

In 1912, the growing church broke ground for the present building. It was constructed of brick and Indiana limestone gothic revival

In 1954 a school and fellowship hall were built to the rear of the church
