McFarland Baptist came about when patrons of Liberty Baptist felt the church was overcrowded. The new congregation was organized on October 15, 1882. A lot at 5th and Cherry was obtained and a new church building was completed on December 25, 1887 1884. 151 McFarland Chapel * Baptist Corner 5th and Cherry Streets 1884 - 1910 new church built 1919-24 fronting 5th The congregation has since moved out to 750 Lincoln (near Linwood). bought 1969 part of the Welborn urban renewal project. The building was razed in September 1970
