On previous site of B'Nai Israel who vacated the old synagogue when the moved out to Washington Ave There is a Manual training school at the corner of Division and Sixth streets, which is a splendid institution. In it the scholars are not taught literature, but the various trades and a scholar has only to indicate his de- sire to take up a certain kind of work and he will be put at his favorite occu- pation with competent teachers to instruct him. The building is very mod- ern, is heated by steam and cost some $sj,ooo. Just in the rear of the high school on Sixth street it stands. The idea of this Manual training school originated with Maj. A. C~ Rosencranz of this city and it is understood that he and his wife gave quite a large sum towards the founding of the insti- tution and the building of the school. eventually merged into main part of Old Central school building
