History

The Pennsylvania Street ME Church bought lots at the corner of Illinios and 11th Ave in 1882 to build a new church. When the congregation relocated in 1884 once the new chapel was completed, a new name was needed. The church became Simpson Chapel in honor of Bishop Simpson, first bishop from Indiana. It was dedicated April 1884

The old Simpson ME Chapel was torn down some time before 1926. A brick, four-square residence is now on the site of the old church
