widow mrs sophia schulte sold to william scherffius 1912 for $12,500 moved into a new house she built 510n wabash a porch was added 1912 largest in city (1400sqft)

used by civilian conservation corps during depression national youth administration HQ bought by vfw in 1942 (correct?) addition 1950 dedicated aug 18 1951

Schulte home was razed in 1966 and replaced by the present VFW Post #1114 building Razed. The VFW is now located on this site.
