e q smith chair company originally riverfront (office 3rd and div, factory foot of oak 1906) moved to 226 division (court) west corner of 3rd w maryland ne corner maryland and 10th 1910-73 2 story reorganized as wertz-klamer furniture co 1913
Remodeled 1936 for three companies Shane Manufacturing, American Pad & Textile, and newly formed Shane Uniform offices on corner rebuilt reused factory (along buchanan) and varnishing room and connected open areas
1974 Shane Mfg and Shane Uniform sold and combined as Evansville Garment Co
Evansville Garment closed 1986
razed >1986 factory (rear) remains now part of the x complex
