History

organized 1842 1848 1846 brick building (house) erected on vine between 2nd and 3rd where the old Hose House 2 was 102 German Methodist Church Methodist On Vine Between 2nd and 3rd. 1860 - 1865 Vine 106 German Methodist Church Methodist On Vine Between 2nd and 3rd. 1858 Vine

Nov 1865 Thomas H Lenst & Co remodel old church for engine house including a large arched door Becomes Steam Fire Co No 2 also vine st engine house In 1865, the church moved to its new location at 4th and Vine where it is most commonly associated. 1868 steam fire co no 1 c1880 becomes Hose House No. 1 city directory 1882 chemical fire engine co No 1 incorrectly markes as no 2 in 1866-7 cd

The church was razed in 1888 when a new fire station was built. The No.1 and No.2 swapped numbers because of the central location.
