USO headquarters, community center, currently EVSC school corp offices Replaced E & TH railroad Union Station modern english baroque L&N takes over C&EI just before WWII 1930s, operations consolidated to fulton ave ford sales agency 1943 USO Club for white soldiers ceased operation in 1946 interested citizens (along with city rec dept) established com center community center (previously in wpa facilities old cresent furniture factory 1st & franklin) after war its four Green River limestone columns were salvaged and dumped out near the waterworks but were later used in the four freedoms monument 1976 bicentennial saving columns razed july 1965 for civic center
