opened in 1855 as one of the finest hotels in the young river city 4 story brick Evansville Commercial College moved in in 1878. The building acquired its French Second Empire mansard roof then. school stayed through at least 1890 steins 1950 stucco like material added in 1963 when the farmers daughter restaurant moved in The restaurant was closed when WVHI radio station made the washington house their home the radio station is now moved and the building is vacant? remodeling into condos/townhouses
