opened july 19 1852 as apollo hall apollo theater west side of first st between vine and sycamore

mozart hall 1860 jan 7 1861 evans brothers shot each other in a fight (grandsons of robert evans and named evans hall) buried in oak hill cemetery

renamed new metropolitan after civil war c1865 renamed to metropolitan in 1868 under new management after being remodeled not in 1870 index

destroyed by fire 1883 ruins of fire aug 1882

new Mozart Hall c1893 at 5th and sycamore (reincarnation?)
