built may 1874 as previous 2 schools became overcrowded completed 1875 served as the high school early 1880s -1879 moved to temp high school 1888 directory lists high school here in fire in nov 1927, kids had class at nearby schools (impetus for lincoln?) incorporated into Lincoln in 1928 along with other black schools gone by 1962 swimming pool on site
